Having a child is one of the most fulfilling experiences anyone could ever imagine. It is also a very scary time period, when you are unsure what will harm your baby and what is safe. To be rest assured, organic is always the best method. What you might not know, is that organic can be incorporated into the baby's nursery as well.

Organic bedding could mean a number of different things, including 100% cotton, 100% wool, and latex-free. However, latex-free is usually referring to baby accessories and crib mattresses. It is important to read the ingredients before ordering organic bedding to ensure that it is what the company is stating.

For example, if the bedding is organic, the bumper pad that goes around the crib will be filled with organic cotton or wool. The fabric is also dyed with non toxic dyes so that they will not harm the baby. Other organic methods used are laser whitened linens, meaning that no bleach is used during the making process.

Pollution Issues

We live in a world where almost everything is toxic. Pollution is unbearable in some locations around the world due to automobile pollution or smog. It is only natural that you would want your baby to have the most natural products available. Organic crib bedding is also a plus if you care deeply about the environment.

Hopeful Solutions

When choosing organic crib bedding, you will find several different options for you to choose from. It mostly depends upon the price that you are looking to pay for the bedding, as well as your preferences for the feel of the fabric and so on.

  • Organic Cotton:

One interesting fact is that organic cotton is grown with very little impact on the environment. This is due to the fact that when organic cotton is grown, the soil it is harvested in is replenished by the cotton to help maintain fertility. This reduces the need for fertilizers and pesticides that are toxic to the environment and to your baby.

  • Organic Wool:

In previous years, wool was given a bad reputation. Many considered it to be an itchy fabric. However, organic wool is completely different. It is very soft to the touch and a great bedding choice for a baby.

Similar to organic cotton, the wool equivalent is not treated with any chemicals or pesticides during the growing process.  It literally goes from the earth and directly into a finished product.  Another benefit of organic wool is that it is great for your skin as well as for your baby; the reason being that it is non-allergenic, which is the case with all renewable resources.  It is a great material for bedding, especially for those who might suffer from a sensitivity to chemicals.  Babies tend to fall in this category.

If you are having a baby during the winter season, organic wool bedding is a great choice due to the fact that it is also a natural insulator.  On the other hand, wool is also cool enough to use in the summer months since it allows the skin to breathe.  Many doctors recommend organic wool for people who have night sweats, which makes it perfect for babies who need to be swaddled during the warmer season.

Organic lambs wool is one ingredient commonly found in babies bedding.  This is because pure lambs wool has been found to help reduce stress in infants, while providing a peaceful sleep.  Studies have proven that infants who lay on lambs wool directly without a sheet on top will have a lowered activity rate.  This is why many hospitals will use wool padding for premature babies to help stimulate their senses and relax them at the same time.

There is a variety of whimsical and adorable organic crib bedding on the market right now.  When organic first came onto the market it was thought that the bedding was boring or plain since it was natural.  However, many companies have made their organic crib bedding look just like the other brands, with cute sayings, polka dots, animals, and other baby themes.
