Getting Control Of A Nuisance
Birds are magnificent creatures, but sometimes they can also be magnificent pests. For a creature that has been around since the supposed dawn of time, its habits do not seem to have changed much. It still does the same things that it has done for thousands of years, and as such you need to take measures to protect yourself against them. "But they're just birds!" you might say. This is true, they are just birds, but they also cause a threat that has never been present before.
What Is Bird Repellent?
There are many different types of bird repellent out there, some of which might be more surprising than others. One of them of course is the option to use chemicals. If you are trying to keep the birds away from plants or other things, such as your patio, then you might find that using chemicals isn't as good of an idea in practice as it would have been on paper.
For this reason there are other types of bird repellents, some of which can range from ultrasonic devices that only the birds can hear, all the way to spikes and wires that you can run. Unlikely as it might seem, birds are actually quite intelligent and aren't going to intentionally run into a row of spikes. For this reason, bird repellent chemicals, devices, and other types of repellents are a great way to manage the birds that are present in your yard.
Problems
Birds in your yard can be a serious problem. Yes, they seem cute and you might think that they can do no wrong, but in all actuality they can be the biggest menace to your yard and your sanity that you can possibly imagine! So what exactly can a bird do?
If you're trying to grow things in your yard, then you'll find that birds have a way of interfering with that on a scale that you never could have imagined. The birds will tend to swoop down and eat things, leaving you with little if any of a harvest to collect.
If you are trying to raise Koi in your yard you will also note some issues with birds. Birds love fish, which is no big secret, so it shouldn't be a surprise when a bird swoops down and tries to take one of your fish. What can you do in this case?

Solutions
Naturally bird repellents are an excellent solution to these problems. To keep the birds away from Koi you will need to set up an ultrasonic bird repellent because here a row of spikes isn't going to cut it unless you've set your pond up like a prison camp.
For gardens the spikes or even netting would be a great idea. Some might consider this inhumane, but once again birds are very intelligent. They are not going to fly into a row of spikes that are clearly displayed. In all honesty, the only one that is inhumane is the chemical substance. If a bird somehow eats that, it could become ill.
These are just a few methods that you can use to get rid of bird pests in your backyard. Yes, the scarecrow might have worked in ages past, but it just doesn't seem to do the trick anymore! So look online to see if you can locate some method of repelling birds. If you have a problem with birds, then it will definitely be worth your time.
